NEC attends the FIWARE Global Summit presenting solutions

Genoa, Italy, - May 20th, 2019NEC Europe Ltd and NEC Laboratories Europe announced their participation in the FIWARE Global Summit from May 20 to 22, 2019 in Genoa, Italy. The FIWARE Summit is the leading international event in developments on the open source FIWARE framework of which NEC is a Platinum member.

Over the next three days, innovators, entrepreneurs, startups and investors will meet to discuss the future of Smart Solutions in areas including Smart City, Smart Energy, Smart Agrifood, and Smart Industry.

NEC is committed to realize new social values by creating advanced solution for society. The FIWARE ecosystem develops the open software platform that will make cities smart, connects the manufacturing value chains of the future, enables aligned ecological and economic values in food production, and provides an optimized smart grid as well. NEC is an active contributor to the eco system as showcased by a series of talks on advancing the FIWARE ecosystem. NEC will demonstrate its commitment to FIWARE by showing “AI@theEdge” - a system that embeds low-power edge devices equipped with a dedicated AI coprocessors for integrating the popular Tensor Flow software directly into Smart Production lines. The system is realized using the FIWARE FogFlow enabler for programming and orchestrating large-scale edge systems. Edge Computing dynamically brings computation tasks to the devices in the Internet-of-Things thus drastically minimizes application latency, reduces bandwidth consumption, and improves the tolerance against network outages.

NEC will participate in various conference sessions throughout the FIWARE Global Summit under the themes of Connected Industries, Smart Manufacturing, Edge Processing, and AI.
