Biography
Brandon is a Principal Data Scientist at NEC OncoImmunity AS. He received his PhD in Computer Science from Mississippi State University (USA) in 2012, and was previously a postdoctoral researcher at several leading institutes including the University of Helsinki, Max Planck Institute and Heidelberg University Hospital. In addition to his theoretical research, Brandon has also worked in applied (industry) research for NEC Laboratories Europe and the Center for Cancer Vaccines in Germany.
Brandon has contributed to over 40 scientific papers that he has published in peer-reviewed journals, and presented at leading conferences and workshops. Contributions include to AAAI, IJCAI, UAI, Nucleic Acids Research, Cancer Research and PLoS Genetics.
His research interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence and biomedical applications and, in particular, the use of Bayesian methods and graph-based machine learning approaches to address questions in precision medicine and immuno-oncology.

Research
Brandon was selected best graduate student researcher in engineering at Mississippi State University for his work in Bayesian networks, and accepted as an Academy of Finland Postdoctoral Researcher. While at NEC, he received company-wide awards for his methodological contributions to advancing graph neural networks and the clinical development of personalized cancer treatments. Brandon is a strong supporter of the research community and leading reviewer of scientific publications. He has received best reviewer awards for top conferences including NeurIPS, UAI and ICML, and is committed to mentoring colleagues and students with their scientific research, which in many cases, is being carried out to complete higher degrees.
