Barbara holds master’s degrees in Japanese from the University of Heidelberg and in commercial law from the University of Saarbrücken. She is a seasoned HR expert, having served many years in different international industries as HR leader and member of the management board. In 2024, she became the founder of ECG Executive Consulting Gromer.

In 2004, she joined NEC, where she built up NEC Laboratories Europe’s intellectual property rights (IPR) department, established and implemented the lab’s export control policies and served as the export control official. She also set and negotiated the lab’s IPR standards for EU projects. In 2007, she became the first manager for IPR, administration and HR, and led the departments until she left NEC in 2013. After NEC, she became administrative director of the German National Cohort – NAKO project (national epidemiological health study). She focused on her passion for HR in her subsequent positions, serving in leading roles at international companies in various industries. She is now a certified systemic coach, agile coach, business mediator, and AI manager.
